Downtown Vision and Garden City Arts are partnering together for a project called ArtStart intended to bring community artwork to downtown Garden City. With the help of local art teachers, children from different schools in Garden City will create mini works of art on 6"x6" wooden surfaces donated by ProBuild in Garden City. Each wooden block will be attached to a stake used to 'plant' the art into the flower pots located throughout the downtown district.

The ArtStart project helps to emphasize the importance of creating public art opportunities for all ages in our community. We are excited to work with local school kids by offering them an avenue of recognition for the creative endeavors.

Each month a new series of art painted by children ranging from grades 2nd - 12th, will debut during Garden City Arts First Friday Arts Walk and Downtown Visions First Friday events. Community members are encouraged to stroll along the historic downtown area to view the individual art pieces.

Community and art continue to grow in Downtown Garden City. The ArtStart project enhances downtown’s cultural mission and creates a great activity for families to enjoy each month.

The first series of art will open for public viewing on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
