About the Artist:
Life is an instant when you are in the right time and at the right place. I often think this to myself when I am out enjoying a nice morning walk by the lake, way before the sun is out and the water looks calm and still.
My name is Alma Avila. I have been painting with acrylics since age 14. The type of artwork I enjoy painting most is landscapes.
Our Creator made our existence more fulfilling and interesting by giving us a beautiful home that we can explore and connect with physically, emotionally, and artistically.
My artwork has a main focus on Nature. I strive to create memorable landscapes combining nature’s elements such as trees, water, distinctive skies, and animals.
I often challenge myself to capture with my camera the essence or spirit of a particular place. I take photos in different seasons and harsh or peculiar weather conditions to enhance the beauty of nature and make each piece unique and precious.
Nature has constant changes that allow me to experiment with different colors, which create a mood or atmosphere of a particular place. The mood in every painting can ease our imagination into being there. Our memories are reanimated in our minds and can become familiar, awakening feelings of peace, happiness, sadness, or comfort.
I want to use art to enhance our individual artistic beings and create spaces where we can acknowledge our emotions that connect with the observation of color, shape, and texture.
I paint because for me it’s a telling of a story — a story of my life and the places I’ve been that I want to freeze in time and keep forever. These are places where I’ve found peace, comfort, and acceptance. The opportunity to share my story is something wonderful and of high value to me as an artist. I hope to continue doing what I love and inspiring others to pursue their dreams too.
