ON THE SIDE OF CARNICERIA GARCIA AT 622 N 8TH…

On the side of Carniceria Garcia at 622 N. 8th St…a brightly colored mural sprawls along the entire side of the building. Many regulars gather here to enjoy the amazing food as well as the beautiful art which was completed in 2024. As it is on the side of the building, the mural can be a bit hard to see at first, however once you find it there is no missing the detail and eye-catching colors the artists used.

The piece was created by two Garden City residents, lead artist Raquel Garcia and assistant artist Paola Ramos. Both of the artists currently only do art on the side, with Raquel being an (RN and Paola working in retail?)). After meeting with the owner several times to finalize the design, the two worked together for (6 months??????) until the mural's eventual completion. The two artists have been doing art for as long as they can remember, but this has been their biggest project to date.

The mural features a brother and sister enjoying a meal with some of the restaurant's most popular dishes. The name “Better Together” or “Mejor Juntos” pays homage to the importance of family and food in Hispanic culture. The style of the project was inspired by pieces of artwork inside of the restaurant, as well as the menu. ((Talk about the pinatas, arent there pinatas in there?????)) Although young, these artists have taken the community by storm with their bright and refreshing mural, and each plan on continuing to further their art careers.
