This beginner’s class helps participants follow step-by-step instructions to recreate the painting of the month on an 11X14 stretched canvas. All supplies will be provided. No experience required.

Each month the instructor will cover basic techniques, offer tips, and give you a new challenge to help grow your skills and comfort level with the medium. Step-by-step instructions will be provided, but participants are encouraged to make modifications as they see fit.

These workshops are designed for beginners and are all stand-alone workshops. All supplies and tools will be provided for you to create one 8x10 inch watercolor painting during each workshop.

This workshop will serve as an introduction or a review on how to use Alcohol Ink. Participants will first learn 3 basic alcohol ink techniques on 3x3 inch yupo paper. Once they are comfortable, they will create their own celestial inspired magnet. These magnets have canvas surfaces and measure roughly 6 inches in diameter. All supplies provided. No previous experience needed.

Bring your own beverage and join us at Garden City Arts for a night of fun and painting! Participants will paint on a 14x18 stretched canvas. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

Each artist will be given a blank multi-page art journal to begin the process of using different mediums and styles to convey their own vision. Robin will guide you through at least 4 page spreads, teaching about supplies and tricks that can be used. You will use paints, markers, stencils, and papers to create your pages. You will then continue through your pages selecting your own supplies and ideas.

Want to improve your watercolor? During this workshop we will start with an exercise to help you become more fluid with your application of paint by using minimal brush strokes to create a landscape. For the second half of the class, you will slow down and create one final landscape postcard and use as many brush strokes as you need. You will leave with 4 postcards that can be put in the mail. All supplies provided. No previous experience needed.

Once a quarter, Garden City Arts will host a writers meetup to encourage networking and create a support system so that you can pursue your creative endeavors.

Each artist will be given a 12” wooden Kansas shape surface to paint using acrylics. Each artist will begin with a sunflower shape to trace onto the surface. Robin will demonstrate steps to paint your piece and how to complete with your personal touches. Finished piece will be your own version of the Sunflower State!

During this fun and easy workshop, participants will learn how to hand dye silk scarves using resist methods. The instructor will break everything down into approachable steps, making this class perfect for beginners. At the end of the class everyone will have a one-of-a-kind scarf to take home.

Bring your own beverage and join us at Garden City Arts for a night of fun and painting! Participants will paint on a 14x18 stretched canvas. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

This class is designed for kiddos ages 5-7 and their caregiver/parent. Together you will each create your own piece of art on an 8x10 canvas panel using tempera paint and oil pastels. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the process, but have lots of opportunities to make their canvas unique.

Pick up a free bag with all the supplies needed to create the featured project of the month! Bags will be set outside the gallery's front door starting at 10 AM and be available until 5 PM or until supplies run out.

Get out of your craft room/studio or off your kitchen table and join your fellow creatives for open studio nights at GCA. Bring your own project to work on OR use materials provided by GCA to start something new! This informal event will help you network with fellow creatives. You are welcome to come and go at your convenience.

We will start with a brief discussion on supplies and a quick how-to for creating rubbings. We will venture out, in small groups, for an hour to locate pre-designated locations to create your rubbings. For the remainder of class, we will reconvene at GCA to show and share what everyone created and talk about how your rubbings can be used as keepsakes. Your rubbing kit is yours to take home.
