Garden City Arts, in partnership with Downtown Vision, invites artists to apply for the Banner Art Project 2026, a public art initiative that showcases original artwork throughout Downtown Garden City.
Selected artists will create an original, hand-painted design on a provided vertical banner, which will be displayed on light poles throughout the downtown district. This project offers artists a highly visible platform to share their work with thousands of residents and visitors while contributing to the creative identity of Garden City.
At the conclusion of the exhibition period, banners will be auctioned to the public. Artists receive 50% of the final sale price of their banner, with remaining proceeds supporting future public art and creative placemaking projects.

Yes. Accepted artists will receive a blank banner to paint directly on.

Acrylic paint is highly recommended. All banners must be sealed with a UV archival sealer.

Yes. Banners are displayed outdoors and may experience normal weather-related wear.

A total of 24 artists will be selected for participation.

Yes. Artists will receive 50% of the final sale price of their banner through the Banner Art Auction.

After the exhibition period, all banners will be auctioned to the public during the Banner Art Auction.

No. All artwork must be original and created solely by the artist listed on the application. Use of copyrighted images or plagiarism will result in disqualification.

Artists who do not complete and return their banner by April 11, 2026 will be liable for the cost to replace the banner.
