(6pm) Meet at Valley View Cemetery at the covered seating area near the north end. We'll begin with a short, hands-on introduction to the tools of the trade and a quick demo on the art of making rubbings. Then it's time to explore. Buddy-up if you’d like and we'll head out for an hour of creative discovery through Valley View Cemetery, visiting stones, monuments, and markers to capture the textures, patterns, and engravings that tell the stories of those who came before us.
After our adventure (leave about 7:10), we'll gather back together at Garden City Arts to share discoveries, stories, and favorite impressions. You'll select the rubbings that speak to you most and present them in a small mat that's ready for framing. Best of all, your rubbing kit is yours to keep, so the exploration can continue long after class ends!

(6:00 p. m.) Nos reuniremos en el Cementerio Valley View, en la zona de asientos techada situada cerca del extremo norte. Comenzaremos con una breve introducción práctica a las herramientas del oficio y una rápida demostración sobre el arte de realizar frotados. Luego, será el momento de explorar. Si lo desean, pueden formar parejas; después, saldremos a realizar una hora de descubrimiento creativo a través del Cementerio Valley View, visitando lápidas, monumentos y marcadores para capturar las texturas, los patrones y los grabados que narran las historias de quienes nos precedieron.
Tras nuestra aventura (saldremos de allí alrededor de las 7:10 p. m.), nos reuniremos nuevamente en Garden City Arts para compartir nuestros hallazgos, historias y frotados favoritos. Seleccionarán aquellos frotados que más les conmuevan y los montarán en un pequeño paspartú, listo para ser enmarcado. Y lo mejor de todo: el kit de frotado es suyo para que se lo queden, ¡así que la exploración podrá continuar mucho después de que termine la clase!
