About the Artist:
The (Not So) Wild West Show
While some artists are moved by a certain theme throughout their life’s work, I am motivated by the challenge of changing things up to test my abilities. While painting is one of my favorite hobbies, to say that my work relaxes me is far from the truth; when I take on a painting, it is pure grit and sweat (and a few anxious nights) that gets me to the end! This time around, I went western: back to my country-girl roots and family
heritage. My paintings reflect photos that I took, researched photographs that captivated me, and simple visions I wanted to capture. For this show, I continued to use the acrylic spray paint stencils that I am known for, but I experimented with incorporating them in different ways to add to the overall effect of my work…sometimes as a simple compliment, and other times as an integral part of the painting. I want my work to stand out and be memorable for being unusual, and I try to make each piece as different as possible from the next. My intent is always for the viewer to not only enjoy my work, but to be calmed by it. My paintings are a simple rendition of the peace within me, the peace
that passes all. I am honored to have this work on display for you---ENJOY!
